AGM May 2013
Rally Report
Rally Report
Once again the AGM was held at Smeatons Lakes in Newark- upon Trent.
This year we used a different part of the site, known as the corral, which after our initial disappointment was felt to be more in keeping with the number of vans at the rally.
We had seven outfits on site which sadly has become the average, due to other commitments some of the usual stalwarts couldn’t make it this year, but hope to see them in 2014.
The weather this year could not have been better allowing us to enjoy the Saturday evening meal outside before adjourning to Neil and Mandy’s awning for a good old catch up and not least a few drinks and nibbles. Mandy made some super floral table decorations which we were able to take home with us, and Sam Williams made some gorgeous cupcakes with fancy toppings which were enjoyed by all.
We held the AGM meeting out side as well, as the Sunday turned out nice. We held our usual raffle in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’ and despite so few of us attending, we managed to raise £40 which Helen sent into them. We have had a very nice letter back. We adjourned to the ‘Fox Inn’ for Sunday lunch, after the close of business.

Helen and I, together with Stan and Kay enjoyed a nostalgic stroll round the grounds of Kelham Hall.
This was formerly the home to Sherwood district council and is presently moving into private ownership, the new owners intend to use the grounds for more public events and to encourage its use by caravanning organisations.
As you will know we did use this site up until a few years ago, so who knows perhaps we might try it again in the future
Due to family commitments Helen and I could not spend as long at the AGM as we would have liked. As some of you know our son and daughter in law were over from Australia to get their three children christened and did not fly back until the Thursday before the AGM.
Whilst it was great to see them, having three little ones is time
consuming and makes you realise that you how out of practice you are with children and their needs.
On this note we must therefore say a big thank you to Neil and Mandy and Bryan and Betty, for their help in getting the AGM up and running
before we arrived and for Stan And Kay for bringing their gazebo, which fortunately we did not need.
In conclusion thank you to every one who turned up making this a great weekend.
Bernard and Helen
