Rally Report
Having been rained off last year, it was a pleasure to welcome Bryan and Betty to the orchard on Wednesday.
This was the first time the orchard had been used and as it is fairly level there is no access problems requiring the use of a tractor.

After a cup of tea and setting up we went to meet our other two guests next door, being the two Shetland ponies who arrived a week earlier.
After a day relaxing around the farm, on Friday we went to the nearby Lliw Reservoir and then over the mountain to Ammanford, returning to welcome Bernard and Helen in the evening.
Saturday was showery so we went to Aberglasney House and gardens where we had a light lunch and carried on to Newton House (N.T.) in Llandeilo.
In the evening we went to the Riverside Inn for our evening meal which everyone enjoyed.
On Sunday the weather was good so we decided to visit the Gwili railway just outside Carmarthen where we took a ride up and back followed by a snack in a converted railway carriage.
Afterwards we went to the Red Kite feeding station to see these
magnificent birds, which have a five foot wingspan, in the wild, followed by a run back over the Black Mountains to the Orchard for a relaxing evening.
Monday dawned and we set off for Cyfarthfa Castle near Merthry Tydfil for the day.
It was the home of the Crawshay family which overlooked
(and owned) what was at that time the largest ironworks in the world.
On our way back we called in to Penderyn (whisky)Distillery where Bernard and Helen decided to have a tour of the distillery, and we later went to the Scotch Pine Country Inn where we all had an excellent meal.
Tuesday was a day of departure as our rally came to an end.
So it was goodbye to the Shetlands and us with everyone away and home safely completing a nice weekend for all.
Hope to see you all soon
Stan & Kay.
